Fourth of July Ice Cream Recipes

The Fourth of July is one of our favorite holidays and not just because it is in National Ice Cream Month! Warm weather, fireworks, cookouts and family are just a few of the reasons that we love Independence Day. Celebrate this weekend with some festive desserts like these Ice Cream Sandwich Stars!

Ice Cream Sandwich Stars

Supplies

  • Sugar cookie mix
  • Rolling pin
  • Star cookie cutters
  • Red, white and blue sprinkles
  • Cookie sheet

Steps

  1. Mix your sugar cookie dough together as instructed on the package. You can buy packaged cookie dough mix or make your own from scratch. If you decide to make it from scratch (sugar, flour, eggs, butter, vanilla, etc.) here is a recipe.
  2. Now that you have the dough mixed, roll it out flat on a non-stick or floured surface.
  3. Take the star-shape cookie cutter and press out stars.
  4. Place them on a non-stick cookie sheet and bake in the oven for 9-10 minutes on 350° Fahrenheit.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Once cool, drop a spoonful of softened vanilla ice cream on a cookie and smooth it out.
  7. Place another star cookie on top and put some red, white and blue sprinkles on the sides to coat the vanilla ice cream.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
