Ice Cream and Alcohol: The Best of Both Worlds

Sometimes, we experience one of those days that make us seek some form of release at the end. Some of us grab a stiff drink or a glass of wine. Others have a sweeter preference and will reach for a pint of ice cream.

How about we combine those two options? If there’s such a thing as alcoholic milkshakes (which are delicious), then surely we can make some alcoholic ice cream! These flavors may be a bit exotic, but try them if you have access to an ice cream maker. Or put ingredients in a blender and make your own milkshake! Either way, it’s the best of both worlds.

Ice Cream Hot Air Balloons

A wonderful signifier of warmer weather is the sound of a small plane overhead. Be it puddle-jumpers, flying lessons, small businesses, or someone just out for a nice fly… the sound of the plane’s motor brings forth images of bright blue skies, long green lawns, birdsong, cicadas, t-shirts, and shorts. For some, this is the sound of freedom. For others, it is the sound of summer and happier times.

And what comes with those small planes? Hot air balloons. They may not be around much during spring, but a summer isn’t complete without at least one evening with a hot air balloon hanging near the horizon or just over the tree line. So many of us have stared in wonder at these floating bags of striped colors. And if you go to hot air balloon shows, you’ll see hundreds of different sizes, colors, and shapes.

Of course, Cold Cow’s particular favorite amongst all that variety are the ice cream balloons. Ever see one? They’re fun to pose with.

Cupcakes Disguised as Ice Cream Cones

Last week we showed you samples of cakes that looked like ice cream. This week, we’re presenting ice cream cones that are actually cupcakes!

It’s such a nifty idea, and apparently you can set the ice cream cones into muffin tins and bake them without too much fuss. The cupcake batter inside expands to fill the cone without breaking it, and any overflow at the top becomes a scoop of ice cream by using some fancy icing skills.

Check out some examples below. They look so delicious, we want to reach through our screens and grab them.

Ice Cream Cakes = Cakes that Look Like Ice Cream

We've all heard about ice cream cakes--the lovely invention that combines cake with ice cream, or just layers of ice cream that's made to look like a cake. And who doesn't love the fudge layer in the middle?

But did you know there are cakes that are made to look like ice cream? This isn't just a Cake Boss invention. Many people have created many variations of this idea with either scoops of ice cream, ice cream cones, or melting ice cream. Take a look at some samples below. All they need is a scoop of actual ice cream on the side and they're perfect.
