Fourth of July Ice Cream Recipes

The Fourth of July is one of our favorite holidays and not just because it is in National Ice Cream Month! Warm weather, fireworks, cookouts and family are just a few of the reasons that we love Independence Day. Celebrate this weekend with some festive desserts like these Ice Cream Sandwich Stars!

Ice Cream Sandwich Stars

Supplies

  • Sugar cookie mix
  • Rolling pin
  • Star cookie cutters
  • Red, white and blue sprinkles
  • Cookie sheet

Steps

  1. Mix your sugar cookie dough together as instructed on the package. You can buy packaged cookie dough mix or make your own from scratch. If you decide to make it from scratch (sugar, flour, eggs, butter, vanilla, etc.) here is a recipe.
  2. Now that you have the dough mixed, roll it out flat on a non-stick or floured surface.
  3. Take the star-shape cookie cutter and press out stars.
  4. Place them on a non-stick cookie sheet and bake in the oven for 9-10 minutes on 350° Fahrenheit.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Once cool, drop a spoonful of softened vanilla ice cream on a cookie and smooth it out.
  7. Place another star cookie on top and put some red, white and blue sprinkles on the sides to coat the vanilla ice cream.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

How to Make the Perfect Summer Iced Coffee: Double Chocolate Mooocaccino Blend

Summer is officially underway and two of our favorite summer treats are: iced coffee and ice cream. Separate, these two are delicious but put them together and they are irresistible! Some people have their own tips and tricks to make the perfect cup of iced coffee, but here are a few of our own tricks and a favorite recipe.

Tips

  1. Mix the sugar and any creamers in while the coffee is hot for easy, even dissolving.
  2. Chill the coffee a bit to avoid watering it down.
  3. Make ice cubes from coffee instead of water to really prevent watering down the coffee flavor!

Double Chocolate Mooocaccino Blended Iced Coffee

Supplies

  • 1 cup coffee ice cubes
  • 1 cup quality coffee, cooled
  • Creamer (optional)
  • Sugar (optional)
  • Mooocaccino ice cream
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Whipped cream

Steps

  1. Brew your coffee and mix in the creamer and sugar to taste. Chill for about 15 minutes or until cool.
  2. Pour cooled coffee into blender.
  3. Warm up about 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup and pour it into the blender. Blend on low speed for one minute or until the syrup is evenly dispersed.
  4. Add in the coffee ice cubes and a scoop of Mooocaccino ice cream.
  5. Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes or until the ice cream and ice cubes are crushed and the coffee is a smooth texture. If there are chunks of ice still, blend for a few more minutes.
  6. Pour your iced coffee into a glass and top it off with some whipped cream. Drizzle it with some of the chocolate syrup and enjoy!

Getting a cup of iced coffee that tastes like or even better than one from the coffee shop can seem impossible. However, with a little quality ice cream and coffee and these tips, it can happen! For some Mooocaccino ice cream, find a Cold Cow distributor near you.

Ice Cream Trend of the Summer: The Sandwich

Every year the foodies of the world predict what foods will be the trendy foods in the coming year. Last year, foods like the pretzel bun and cronut were all the rage. It was predicted that one of the big food trends of 2014 would be the ice cream sandwich. Now with summer underway, it is safe to say that their predictions were accurate, with strange new ice cream sandwiches like the Churro Ice Cream Sandwich popping up in restaurants and markets.

The ice cream sandwiches of 2014 aren't just your typical cookie and ice cream combination either. Chefs and foodies are putting a creative spin on the traditional dessert. Here are a few of the highlights of this summer's dessert trend:

Not Just Cookies

Instead of just scooping ice cream between two cookies, dessert lovers are finding other delicious things to create sandwiches. Some examples are: churros, waffles, donuts, cookie dough and more.

Hot and Cold

Traditionally the sandwich is served cold but this summer chefs have been serving it hot too. Some shops are putting ice cream in warm buns and donuts. The result is a treat that is both warm and cool!

Be the Chef

This new ice cream sandwich fad isn't just for the chefs. Some neat ice cream sandwich makers are hitting the market, so you can make your own creations this summer!

If you do decide to create your own spin on the ice cream sandwich, please share it with us. Brownie points for those that use one of our ice cream flavors

3 Flavor of the Week Ice Cream Treats

What happens when you combine cookies, cake and ice cream? Some of the most delicious treats that your taste buds can handle! In honor of our Flavor of the Week, we are showcasing 3 of our favorite desserts featuring Cookies 'N Cream-the yummy blend of cookies and vanilla ice cream. First off, is a recipe for a Brownie Cookies 'N Cream Cake.

Supplies

Steps

  1. Mix together the brownies according to the box instructions. You can use one box of brownie mix for a thin brownie layer. We used and recommend two for thicker layers.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and pour brownie mix into two pans. You can sprinkle a non-stick pan with sifted flour to make it easier to remove brownies after baking.
  3. Bake according to the pan size and time on the box instructions.
  4. Remove from oven and let cool for at least an hour.
  5. Soften Cookies 'N Cream ice cream until the consistency is spreadable but not melting. Spread a layer of ice cream on one pan of brownies.
  6. Place the other pan of brownies in warm water for easy removal and flip the pan upside carefully.
  7. Remove the brownie layer from the pan. You can use a plastic spatula to assist if it is stuck.
  8. Place the second layer of brownie on top of the ice cream and brownie layers.
  9. Spread another layer of Cookies 'N Cream followed by a layer of whipped cream.
  10. Freeze for 1-2 hours and serve.
